Slammin' Sammy Slams the Cubs

Sammy Sosa is upset with how the Cubs have treated him since they parted ways in 2004.

“They put me out there like I was a bad guy,” Sosa says today, “when all I did all my whole life was play hard and give everything I had for the organization and for the people of Chicago.”

Sosa is disappointed other Cubs have worn his number, 21. Jason Marquis, Milton Bradley, and now Tyler Colvin wear the number 21.

“That number should be untouchable because of the things that I did for that organization,” fumes Sosa. “That right there shows me that they don’t care about me, and they don’t want to have a good relationship with me.”

Is Sosa's criticism of the Cubs valid? Should baseball pretend like this era didn't happen?

Glen Coffee Retires at 23

Glen Coffee, 2009 3rd round pick by the San Francisco 49ers, announced his retirement today. As to why he retired, that hasn't been specified yet.

49ers Head Coach Mike Singletary said Coffee's retirement came "out of the blue."

Here is Coffee's full statement:

"This has been a tough decision for me, but at this time in my life I feel it's best for me that I move on from football. I appreciate what the 49ers, my teammates and coaches have done for me, and I wish them a blessed season and all the best in the future."

Brawl on the Golf Course?

Reporter Jim Gray (pictured on right) recently quoted Ryder Cup Captain Corey Pavin (left) as saying Tiger Woods was guaranteed a spot on the 2010 Ryder Cup Team. Pavin recently held a news conference, refuting these claims. Reportedly, after the news conference, Pavin and Gray met in a heated debate, where supposedly Pavin told Gray, "You're going down."

Lebron James was back in Ohio this week, and visited the popular theme park, Cedar Point. While at Cedar Point, Lebron took part in a 3-point shooting contest....and, well........he lost.

Randy Johnson taking pics at Lollapalooza??

The Big Unit, pictured on the left side of the picture, is apparently hanging out at Lollapalooza as a photographer. In an article from noisecreep.com, Johnson said

"This is my first summer available to go to shows, since I spent the last 26 years playing baseball, so my time was limited,"

Johnson is a rock 'n' roll fan, and his status as a prominent major leaguer allowed him to meet bands he liked. "Through my professional career, I have had an opportunity to be friends with musicians, starting with Kim Thayil from Soundgarden, from when I lived in Seattle. I was up in that scene at the right time, seeing Nirvana and Pearl Jam," Johnson said. "Now, I am living in Arizona, I've gone to shows and met a lot of different bands members and find out they are sports fanatics!"
